Alberene Soapstone is available in a variety of "flavors" that are unique to each specific quarry. All of the varieties are equally at home as counters, floors and embellishments. They are classified as Regular Grade and Premium Grade.

Regular Grade
Regular Grade stones share common traits and similar workability, and are found closely related in the various quarries. Applications for regular grade stones include interior and exterior paving, fireplace surrounds, and bath tub surrounds.

Additionally, soapstone's thermal characteristics make it uniquely suitable for in-floor heating, either over hot water tubing or electric mats in bathrooms, or for entryways and for ice melting on exterior walkways.

Alberene

Alberene polishes to a dark charcoal color that is highlighted with hints of green. It contains minimal veining and is a good choice for color consistency. Shown unsealed (left) and sealed (right). Click on the image to see a larger view.

 Old Dominion

Old Dominion is grey in color, with dark garnet spots. It contains light to heavy veining.  Climax (Please see note)

Climax is a dark stone with striking veins.  The veins are translucent green and white in color and are highlighted by gold flecks. Climax is perfect for adding drama to your design, either as a complete statement or as a centerpiece Shown unsealed (left) and sealed (right). Click on the image to see a larger view.

 Clouds (Please see note)

Clouds is a subtle grey stone that can polish to a darker finish. It contains even, directional, pale veining and some garnet spotting. Shown unsealed (left) and sealed (right). Click on the image to see a larger view.

Premium Grade
Premium Grade stones are found only in specific quarries and differ from their regular grade cousins in hardness and durability. These stones are particularly well suited to use as thin tiles and pavers in high traffic areas, as restaurant counters, and in other high wear applications such as stair treads, thresholds, and sills. Premium Grade stones will also look great in your kitchen or bath.

Church Hill
Church Hill finishes dark with hints of blue mottling. Veining ranges from subtle black lines to wider, more dramatic white bands that are tinged with green. Church Hill is extremely durable and is excellent for high traffic areas of flooring or work surfaces.

Grade 45
Grade 45 is a luxurious black stone characterized by narrow white veins and small inclusions of garnet. The surface can be textured with a sand blasted finish that gives it the look of black leather. Grade 45 is extremely durable and wear-resistant, making it an excellent choice for high traffic areas of flooring or work surfaces.
